Overview

Price the Actual Shipment

Product, route, packed size and delivery endpoint shape the quote.

Check the Weight Basis

Some services compare packed actual weight with volumetric weight.

Review the Total Scope

Transport, handling, taxes and extra charges need distinct treatment.

QUOTE COMPONENTS

What builds your shipping cost?

These are possible components. The accepted product, transport mode, supplier handover and delivery endpoint determine the actual line items.

Origin Handover

Supplier drop-off, collection and origin handling depend on where the goods enter the shipping network.

International Transport

The route, service level and a quoted weight, volume, pallet or other basis determine the main carriage line.

Destination Services

Handling, clearance coordination or a broker service may be separate items. Check the scope.

Duty, Tax and Other Charges

Ask which authority and third-party costs are included, estimated or payable separately.

CHARGEABLE WEIGHT

Why Packed Dimensions Matter

WORKED EXAMPLE · NOT A SHIPAX RULE

For a dimensional-pricing service, compare packed actual weight with volumetric weight. The larger figure may become the charging basis. The divisor, rounding and minimum depend on the quoted service.

WORKED EXAMPLE · NOT A SHIPAX RULE

10 identical cartons

50 × 40 × 30 cm

8 kg actual each · 80 kg total

Volumetric per carton

10 kg

Illustrative chargeable basis

100 kg

50 × 40 × 30 ÷ 6,000 = 10 kg per carton

The factors are examples from different types of services. The actual Shipax quote must state the applicable basis.

Know What is Included Before You Approve

The quoted shipping subtotal and your full landed cost may differ. Confirm the following points in writing for the shipment.

✓ Measurement basis, divisor and any minimum
✓ Origin handover, transport and delivery endpoint
✓ Destination handling and any broker involvement

Separate or Conditional Items

✓ Importer role, duties and VAT/GST

✓ Storage, waiting, changes or re-delivery

The supplier’s sale terms affect who pays transport and import costs. Make sure those terms and the Shipax quote agree on the handover and payment responsibilities.

PAYMENT AND ADJUSTMENTS

When Might the Amount Change?

Ask the quote to explain these possible triggers and how an additional amount would be approved or collected.

  • 1-Measured goods differ: Final piece count, packed dimensions or weight differs from the information submitted.
  • 2-Product needs change: A different classification, packaging, permit or handling arrangement is required.
  • 3-Authority charges arise: Duties, taxes, inspections or other destination costs fall outside the quoted subtotal.
  • 4-Handover or delivery changes: Pickup, storage, appointment, waiting or re-delivery differs from the booked plan.

GET THE COST FOR YOUR GOODS

Tell Shipax what you are buying, where it is and where it needs to arrive. We’ll use those details to review the proposed service and ask for any missing information.

Questions Before You Request a Quote

Do you have a fixed price per kilogram?

No universal price is published on this page. A chargeable-weight basis may apply to some services, but the goods, route, service, minimums and handover or delivery scope all affect the quote. Request the rate and charging basis for your actual shipment.

Are customs duty and taxes included?

Do not assume they are. The quote should say whether duties, VAT/GST and clearance-related charges are included, estimated or payable separately, and identify the party responsible for payment.

Is collection from my supplier included?

Only if it is named in the quote. Tell us whether you need collection or your supplier will deliver the goods to an agreed point.

Does the quote cover Amazon or noon warehouse delivery?

Share the exact receiving location and any appointment, reference or labelling requirements. The final handover must be confirmed for the route and shown in the quoted scope.

Can the quote change after booking?

It can if an adjustment mechanism is stated and the booked details change—for example, measured size, product description, special handling or delivery instructions. Review the validity, measurement and extra-charge terms before approval.

What do you need to prepare an itemised quote?

Send the origin and destination, product description, quantity, packed dimensions and weight if known, goods value, supplier handover point and delivery endpoint. Note any liquids, batteries or regulated products. We’ll identify information still needed.
