What Is the Minimum Shipment or Monthly Volume?

Shipping Costs
Updated on 02 Nov 2026

ShipaX does not state one shipment weight, carton count or monthly volume that applies to every business shipping service. A minimum, if applicable, needs to be confirmed for your goods, route and proposed service. Your quote should show any minimum shipment size or charge, while any recurring volume commitment should be clear in the account terms.

You can still send details of a small or occasional shipment for review. An enquiry is not a promise that a particular shipment size or delivery arrangement can be accepted.

Three Different Minimums to Check

TermWhat it meansWhat to ask
Minimum shipment sizeA service may require a minimum weight, volume, number of pieces or shipment configuration. Is my packed shipment eligible for the proposed service?
Minimum chargeThe transport or handling line may have a payment floor even if the shipment is physically small. What is the minimum charge, and which services does it cover?
Monthly volume commitmentAn account or agreed pricing arrangement may depend on a stated number of shipments or amount of business over time.Is a monthly commitment required, and what happens if my volume changes?

These terms are separate. Meeting a weight threshold does not establish the final price, and paying a minimum charge does not override product, route or import restrictions.

How to Check Your Shipment

The useful starting point is the packed shipment and the service you need. Share:

  1. Goods and route: Product description, buying country, destination and intended receiver.
  2. Pieces and measurements: Carton or pallet count, outside dimensions and gross weight for each piece. If a service prices by dimensional weight, read How Is Chargeable Weight Calculated? before comparing quotes.
  3. Supplier handover: Whether your supplier can deliver to an agreed receiving point or you need Overseas Supplier Collection and Receiving.
  4. Delivery endpoint: Your business, shop, warehouse or a fulfilment centre, with any appointment or receiving instructions. See Supported Delivery Types for the handover questions to confirm.
  5. Frequency: A one-off shipment, periodic replenishment or an estimated number of shipments per month.

Measurements that are not yet final should be labelled estimated. Packing changes can affect both service eligibility and the quoted charge.

If You Have a Small or Occasional Shipment

Ask for the proposed service's smallest eligible shipment and minimum charge as separate answers. A small shipment can still involve collection, handling, clearance coordination and delivery costs. Compare the full itemised quote on Business Shipping Costs and What Your Quote Includes, rather than relying on a price per kilogram alone.

If you buy from more than one supplier in the same origin country, Multi-Supplier Shipment Consolidation explains the details to review before asking whether eligible goods can move together. Combining purchases may change the final carton count, dimensions, handling and timing. It does not automatically remove a minimum charge or make a product eligible.

For resale, divide the expected shipment costs across the units you expect to sell. How Sellers Can Calculate Landed Cost shows how to keep freight, handling, duties, taxes and delivery assumptions separate.

If You Expect to Ship Every Month

Give an honest estimate of your shipment frequency, average carton or pallet count, typical goods and routes. Ask ShipaX to distinguish the price for an individual shipment from any account pricing that depends on a recurring volume commitment.

Before agreeing to account terms, confirm the measurement period, whether volume is counted by shipment, weight or spend, and whether a shortfall changes the price or creates another charge. Do not assume an estimated forecast is a binding commitment unless the agreed terms say so.

Questions to Confirm in Your Quote

  • Is there a minimum weight, volume, piece count or charge for this service?
  • Does the minimum apply to each shipment, each collection or the account as a whole?
  • Are actual weight and volumetric weight compared, and what divisor and rounding rules apply?
  • Which collection, handling, customs and destination services are included in the minimum charge?
  • Is there a monthly volume commitment, and are one-off shipments available for this route?
