Tracking for a commercial shipment shows the information available from the transport and receiving parties involved in its journey. Depending on the booked service, you may see carrier scans, handover records or status updates passed on by ShipaX. A status update marks an event; it does not necessarily show the goods' exact location at every moment.
Before booking, ask which shipment reference, update channel and delivery evidence will be available for your route and service. If you already have a shipment in progress, keep its booking or tracking reference handy when contacting ShipaX.
The milestones available depend on the route, carrier, transport mode and agreed delivery endpoint. The following are common types of event, not a guaranteed sequence or a promise that every event will appear in a tracking feed.
| Possible milestone | What it can tell you | What to check next |
|---|---|---|
| Supplier handover or collection | The goods were handed to an appointed party or collected under the agreed arrangement. | Confirm the recorded cartons, weight or handover reference where available. |
| Received at origin | A receiving point has recorded the shipment. | Check whether any count, packaging or documentation issue was reported. |
| Departed origin or entered international transport | The shipment has moved into a booked transport leg. | Expect the next update at a physical scan or handover point, where one is available. |
| Arrived at destination | The goods reached a destination transport point. | Arrival does not mean customs has released the goods or that final delivery has occurred. |
| Customs review or release | A customs process is under way or the goods have been released, as reported by the responsible party. | If information is requested, establish who must provide it and to whom. |
| Delivery attempt or handover | A carrier attempted delivery or recorded a handover to the named receiver. | Check the delivery record and the receiver's own acceptance process. |
| Exception | A delay, document request, receiving issue or other problem was reported. | Ask for the stated reason, responsible party and next action. |

The source of a status matters. A carrier scan can confirm a transport event. An operating or receiving partner may report a handover or exception. A customs broker or the importer may have the detail behind a clearance enquiry. ShipaX can share the information available to it and coordinate the follow-up included in the booked service.
Ask at quotation or booking which party will provide updates, how you will receive them and which reference you should use. Do not assume that a carrier reference, a marketplace shipment ID and a ShipaX booking reference are interchangeable.
A gap between updates does not by itself establish that a shipment is lost. Some transport legs have no intermediate scan; a new status may appear only after the next physical handover. An update can also be delayed while a provider transmits a record or while the goods await a customs, product or receiving decision.
If the last status is unclear, ask ShipaX to confirm the latest verified event and whether an action is pending. Include the date and wording of the last update. An estimated delivery date should be reassessed if the shipment is awaiting documents, customs release or a receiving appointment.
An arrival or customs status may show that the goods are in a clearance stage without explaining why they have not been released. The importer or appointed broker may need to answer a document, classification, valuation or product question. The exact request should come from the responsible customs party; a generic tracking message is not enough to diagnose it.
If clearance coordination is included in your quote, ShipaX can help obtain and relay the available request within that agreed scope. The importer and supplier may still need to provide corrected or additional information. See the business shipping documents guide and customs clearance support for the roles involved.
No single delivery status covers every receiving step. A carrier may record a delivery attempt or handover before the receiving business checks carton counts, accepts the booking, processes units or makes inventory available for sale. For a shop or warehouse, confirm acceptance with that receiver. For a marketplace fulfilment centre, compare the transport delivery evidence with the marketplace's own inbound status.
The quoted endpoint determines where ShipaX's delivery responsibility ends. Read about supported delivery types and stock delivery to marketplace fulfilment centres if your shipment has a third-party receiver.
Send the information that lets the team locate the shipment and identify the next action:
ShipaX can then check the latest information available from the parties involved and explain any next step within the agreed service. If a document or receiving action belongs to you, your supplier, the importer or the marketplace, the relevant party must complete it. For a reported loss, damage or shortage, retain the packaging, handover and receiving records and ask about the applicable claims process.
